Dogs and Puppies Available for Adoption
 


Thank you for your interest in 4 Paws Sake.  Due to the extremely high volume of emails we receive, coupled with the fact that we are an exclusively volunteer organization run by individuals with full time jobs, we will only respond to email inquiries from individuals with completed applications on file.  We simply do not have the manpower to respond to each and every email.  Please refer to the list of frequently asked questions below for basic facts about our organization.

FAQs

Our adoption fee is $175 and includes up to date, age appropriate vaccinations and up to date heart worm preventative.  All 4PS dogs have been spayed or neutered.  Our fee also includes a free wellness exam at Sylvania Vet Clinic.  Dogs over seven years of age may qualify for the $50 senior dog discount.

We are located in the Toldedo, Ohio area.  We adopt within a two hour radius and generally do NOT make exceptions.

Fenced in yards are required for our dogs unless otherwise noted.  Fences must be in place at the time of adoption.  Electronic fencing systems are reviewed on a case by case basis.

We do not have a shelter or facility in which we house our dogs.  Our dogs are kept in loving foster homes throughout northwestern Ohio and southeastern Michigan.  Should you be interested in meeting one of our dogs, you must first submit a completed application.

We do not have a phone number for 4 Paws Sake.  Any numbers listed for 4 Paws Sake are PERSONAL cell numbers and are not for public use unless it is a true emergency.  Please do not use this number to find out if we have received your application, if a dog is still available, etc.  We are available for contact via email only.

Brady is a very sweet one year old black lab.  He is housebroken, and he gets long great with children, other dogs and cats.  He weighs 58 lbs and has your typical lab puppy energy.  He will need a family who has time to spend playing and exercising him.

Lilly is very sweet, loving girl, she is a bit shy at first, but warms up quickly. Lilly LOVES children! though she will need some manners. Sshe does well with other dogs-again-shy and slow going at first.

Lilly will make a great addition to the right home. Lilly was an out side dog and is adjusting very well to the comforts or and indoor home.  She will need some help on her house breaking.

I am a 4 month old black lab/ shepherd mix, I am  24 lbs.  I am about 90% potty trained, I have a ton of energy, love to play tug of war and keep away.  I am a very fast learner, I am crate trained, love to cuddle and play with other dogs...I  am still a puppy and have sharp teeth and love to chew, usually  on nyla-bones and tennis balls.  Don't know how I would react to a cat or small children I have never been around them, I am looking for a great family that I can call my own, I will steal your heart and give you lots of kisses.

Diesel is a beautiful 2 year old yellow lab mix who loves to go for walks, and run around in the back yard. He likes to play with his tug toy or chew on his nylabone. He is very good in the house by himself as long as nothing too tempting is left within his reach. He is also fine in his crate, and goes in without any bribes. Diesel warms up to new people slowly, but once he  feels comfortable with you he will be your best friend. He likes to be close to his people. He is anxious in new situations and with new people but calms down if you distract him or reassure him. He is on Reconcile to help him with anxiety and is doing well. He needs and deserves someone who will give him a good home, and who will be patient with him and help him overcome his fears. He responds very well to positive reinforcement. He is easily trainable and is learning some basic commands. He knows sit and down and is working on stay. He is a very gentle, sweet dog and we love having him here, but we know he needs a permanent home.  Diesel will require a secure fenced in area an we do not recommend small children

This little girl is Jenna.  She is an affectionate one year old 22 lb. Jack Russell Terrier.  She loves to give kisses!  Jenna is having fun playing with new doggy friends at her foster home.  She is a typical JRT, a ball of energy and curious about her surroundings.  She loves to play tug with her toy, chase balls and chew on her chew toys.  She is in a home with two cats and is great with them.  The cats appreciate that she doesn't chase them around the house!  Jenna loves going for car rides and for walks. She had lots of fun at doggy daycare but would jump the gate there.  Jenna will require a home with a privacy fence or tall fence to keep her safe in the yard.

Lots of people tell me I have beautiful brown eyes that "talk to you" all the time.  Oh, yes, I have legs that look like Charlie Chaplin, they go out.  That is a true Basset for sure.  Nothing wrong with these "Gams".  
 
I must have a fenced in back yard to play in, I would love to sleep on the bed with you and no small pets.. Being an only dog in the family or with just one other dog would be a good fit for me. I am hoping for a family that is home with me for a few hours during the day.  I am potty trained and love to be with you in a chair or on the  couch watching TV.

Kate is a 2 year old German Shepherd that loves to run around outside and play. She knows how to sit, will go into her bed for a treat, and loves to play with her kong. Kate is very shy and it takes her sometime to get used to men. She does not like loud noises from anyone or anything. She loves to cuddle and have your full attention. She gets along well with other dogs and loves to play "catch me if you can" with them. It took sometime for her to get used to our dogs though. She sleeps in her cage without any destruction of toys. She is a good eater, but will quickly move out of the way if another dog wants her food. We are near her when she eats so that our "hogs" (I mean dogs) don't eat her food. :) Kate is very quiet and loves to relax. She has not had any accidents in the house either.

Toby is quite the looker.  He is a seven year old yellow Lab mix.  He came to us needing surgery of his ACL (knee) and has done very well since his surgery.  Toby is an awesome companion dog and loves nothing more than to spend time with his human family.  He loves to play with a tennis ball, chew on bones and go for walks.  Toby does not need to be crated but likes to go in one occasionally to lay down.  He ignores the cats and is tolerant of the big puppy in his foster home.  He even keeps his cool around the Jack Russell mix that is his foster sister!  If you are looking for a calm older dog that will lay at your feet in the evenings and go for walks during the day with you, here he is.

Most loyal dog you’ll ever meet. Meet Bella!!!!!!! Bella is a fun, sweet, active and loyal pooch. She was rescued on her last day in a high-kill  facility.  She is absolutely beautiful and aims to please. She would be ideal for a runner or someone who is active. She loves to go running!!!! She is a dog who just needs a little time to warm up and know that she can TRUST you. I can’t say that I blame her since people weren’t so nice to her. She had a bad past but if you give her time she will undoubtedly become your best friend. She loves car rides, walks or anywhere you are she will be. She is one of the most loyal dogs I have EVER fostered. She is amazingly smart so she needs an owner who isn’t a push over because she will take the lead if you don’t. She is good with other dogs, cats and older children. With anything new she just needs a little patience and time. I believe that there is that special someone out there who can look past the aloofness at first and see how great of a dog she would be for them. It is one of the biggest reasons she has yet to be adopted. She is overlooked simply because her past baggage shows on the surface with people she doesn’t trust.  She has so much love and loyalty to give someone if they would give her the chance she deserves. She has traveled and escaped such a horrible past that she deserves that special person who will give her a chance.

Hello my name is Rico!  My foster mom says I am a whole new dog from when I first arrived at her house in November. I am a fun going kind of guy. I am still shy around new people but have learned to warm up rather fast. I am housetrained, while I do not need a crate my mom keeps one so I can retire to the bat cave if I am spooked or just need some quiet time. She never locks the door. I still do not care for loud noises like fireworks. I LOVE most dogs. I am great with kids as long as they are considerate and realize I am not a stuffed animal. I go for walks on the trails here with my family and do not pull. My mom doesn't recommend cats. I don't know what those are but she says since I chase every rabbit, bird and butterfly out of the yard she doesn't think I would like it. I could sit for hours now and have my little ears scratched. I am not a heavy shedder as long as you brush me. I have never ever chewed up anything or caused any damage to my home. I do not dig and would never dream of jumping the fence. My mom is confident I will do great in my new forever home (my sissy Alexis says it will break her heart for me to leave. I am the first foster she has ever fallen in love with told you I'm suave). I just need a family that understands I need a fence and time to adjust. Please fill out an application if you think I will be a match. My mom has great video of me butterfly hunting in the backyard, those butterflies are lucky I don't have wings!

                   HI, MY NAME IS BUDDEE!    What happened to this bed????? 

I am a very happy boy, and am  six months old. I am a beautiful mixed pup, mostly retriever mix, because I LOVE TO BRING YOU STUFF!!!

I am very energetic, and want to make you my best BUDDEE! I get along great with other doggies, men, ladies and kids!  I am mindful and smart, and my foster mom is very happy with me most of the time!  I will learn quickly, and of course, I am still  young, so I will need to be trained by you, and I promise to obey with your loving patience!

I am very good going potty outside: I go out and make my spot, and will go to the door when I have to!

If you are looking for a dog who will lead an active life with you, I am the one for you!  I like to play fetch, and do know how to bring it back!   Foster mom knits and sews a lot, and I will often pick up scrap of fabric and carry them around, but I will give them back, as I am very proud!  I like kids, prefer them older than 8, as I am so exuberant and strong!  I am not destructive, but will need to have lots of time for play and exercise!

I sleep all night in my crate, and I am also good in my crate when foster mom goes away for a few hours without the doggies. I am out in the house most of the time now with my four fosters brothers and sisters!

I LOVE TO GO AWAY IN THE CAR, and we all go together. I have a big back yard that I play in, so, I have not had a lot of time on a leash, but I will learn more about it and do you proud!

I can sit, and stay, and getting better with down.  I do jump now and then, but am working on this.  I think a fenced yard would be the best for me, to be safe, and if possible, another dog to be my companion would be fun too.

If you are looking for a fun doggie, smart, handsome and LOVING, I am the one for you. I will be your play buddy, obedient buddy, and cuddle buddy too, DID I MENTION THAT? I will cuddle with you almost any time! I will be fairly good sized, about 65 pounds, but full of love for you!

Bernie (Pending)

Bernie is a 5 year old Terrier dachshund Mix that just needs a little understanding. Bernie had one owner for his five years of life and in that five years was never told NO. Bernie has gotten away with everything in the past and now is having a hard time adjusting to change. He is currently in a foster home with seven other dogs most of which are much bigger than he is. For the most part he does very well with them. An occasional grumble now and then but that is expected in any pack of that size. Bernie is 100 percent house broke. He does not require a crate during the day or at night. Right now he sleeps in bed with his foster parents as well as his foster brothers. During the day he has the run of the house with two foster brothers and one foster sister. The only time Bernie barks is when he is running in the back yard playing, or when he sits next to the Chinchilla cage and wants to play with them. Other than that he is very quiet while he is in the house. Bernie is going through some training right now in his foster home. He is learning to sit and stay as well as down and stay. Bernie is not real fond of strangers at this time and especially small children. He will nip if given the chance. That is Bernie's only down side and that is what his fosters are working on as well. It has a lot to do with never being told NO. The right person with the right understanding of Bernie could make an excellent new family. We do not feel he is ready for adoption now but hope that in the near future he will be.

Frankie is a 4 year old, 15 lb. neutered male full bred Mini Pinscher. He is your typical min pin, very protective, loves to sit on your lap, snuggle with you under the covers, he gives lots of kisses for no reason, just real happy go lucky little guy. He gets a long with other dogs, but he needs his time to adjust to them, he is with 3 other dogs and at first he did not want to mingle with them but after 3 days he was eating and playing with them no problem. I would not suggest Frankie to a home with small children, I have not had him around them, and like I said he is protective, therefore better safe than sorry, homes with teens would be fine, he would make a great companion for anyone that lives alone also.

Truman is a 10 year old poodle.  He is mostly blind and hard of hearing but that doesn't stop this little guy from getting around.  Truman is looking for a quiet family to love him and care for him.  Truman is just a loving lap dog

Hi, my name is Hershey and I am a four year old black flat coat retriever mix.  My previous owner could no longer care for me and these nice people took me in to help find my new forever family.  I had an injury to my right eye in the past...cant remember how it happened but that's okay it doesn't bother me.  My foster mom was taking me for long walks and I really loved our walks!  She took me to the vet and they are taking care of me and my eye right now. I hate the drops they put in my eye!...but I know it is to make my eye better. I love everyone and I was on my best behavior with the cats at my foster home.  My favorite thing is getting a belly rub!! ...cant get enough of that!  I love to get outside to run but inside I know not to run and I don't chew on anything.  They tried to give me toys to play with at the foster home...I just like to lay around inside and take it easy.  Do you like giving belly rubs?  I am the dog for you!

Look at those eyes!  Marley is 3 years old, he came to us 2 years ago with two broken legs after being hit by a car and left on the side of the road.  Marley is probably one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet in your entire life.  Marley is now a happy healthy, goofy, bouncy dog.   Marley is completely housebroken and crate trained.  Marley has been in doggy daycare and gets along great with other dogs.  However, he did have an altercation with another dog when left alone.  Marley would probably do best in a home where he is the one that gets all of your love and attention.   Marley loves to run and play outside, he loves his toys and he loves to bring you sticks.  He has been through so much and he deserves the perfect home.

The dog or puppy you adopt today will be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccines.  When your new  family member is ready for his/her next exam, visit Sylvania Veterinary Hospital.    Sylvania Veterinary Hospital has generously donated 1 (within 12 months of adoption) free wellness exam to every dog/puppy adopted through 4 Paws Sake, Inc.
